Recently, DA set it so only users 18 and over can view mature content. I find this funny becuase a majority of DA's users are UNDER 18. LOLZ?

I think it was fine the way they had it, because seriously, people should have enough maturity to view what they can handle, and use their own personal discretion as to what they click or what they don't click. Plus, they had those little (-) MATURE CONTENT thumbnails if you wanted.

But, I really don't have a problem with them doing that at all. It doesn't effect me, minors are supposed to be protected from that stuff anyway, and ontop of that, some of the "artistic nude" that people post I personally don't believe is artistic nude at all.

Not everyone feels this way, but it's just how I feel about the subject. I have alot of respect for artistic nude photography, and I think alot of it is truely beautiful, as I think the human body can be a beautiful thing. But I don't hold respect for the pieces and/or artists that just portray genetalia or erotic poses and themes just to do it, like close up shots of a woman's ass or her legs spread with her vagina in your face, or two women in a shower making out naked with their hands in each other's crotches. I could go to any porn sight and look at that. Okay, I won't pick on all the lesbian photos -- some photos of two women in what can be considered erotic or sexual poses have been done artistically and actually look like art and not porn, but most of them i've seen are not. But this also brings up the funny thing that most non-artistic "artistic nude" (aka porno shots), are mostly of women. DA seems to like to throw out the ones of the men alot. Not that I'm complaining, becuase I don't think I'd want to see those anyway. No more porn plz, I don't care what gender.

I could keep going but I wont. If you read any of that, congrats to you, you just lost 10 IQ points! But what's your view on it? The whole artistic nude thing? What do you think about the artistic nude on this site, etc?

But anyway. Just my little rant on DA, since I don't voice my opinion much here and this wasn't fitting of any other place to rant since its.. well, about DA. I seem to have this slight fear of updating my journal in fear of people getting to know me, I don't know why. Because I'm really not that interesting and I don't want you all to figure that out AHAHA and I'm really really really bad with communication, I'm socially inept and a pretty bad recluse irl sometimes (i feel guilty for that, oops), and I fail at getting back to comments alot. So.. yeah. um. .. yeah. my apologies, forgive me.

You are forgiven, you awesome art-maker!

Artistic nudes? Eh. The whole mature rating thing is voluntary until you get caught with something that SHOULD be rated mature. Just like it's voluntary to give your real age on the internet...

are you serious? :/ so you can't view it if you're under 18 now?
that's so stupiiddddfhadsujkhas even if you're not 18 it's not like you don't have the same bits and pieces(at least of your own gender)

i believe what DA is doing with the whole minor thing is right and i'm actually a little glad. being under eighteen though it's slightly annoying when i might've found an awesome peice of artwork that was guy+guy or girl+girl (shonen ai.... light stuff like yours) that has been put under mature content because of their watchers comments and other things. So i'm glad and a little bit sad. Also i'm a bit confused as to what DA will do about the pictures that artists did not put under mature content but are mature conten.

i don't really like the sad excuses for artistic bude that seem to creep onto this site. I'm also confused about why most of these are of women.... and why DA throws out the guy porn but keeps the girl ones....

nice journal

I'm completely down for all the artistic photos, and the people who strongly believe what they do is art. But on the other hand.. there are just some days when I'll be going through the popular art and there will be spread eagles and girl on girl.. some times i feel people take advantage of it. I can't look at the popular art at school without getting comments from people who think I'm looking at porn or want the links to that persons page. Thats the only complaint i have about the mature stuff, its not just the photos, but some people who draw the inflation and huge boob art too.. calm down peoples hahaha.

to be honest, artistic nude for me...means non-sex. i don't want to actually orgasm when i look at art. if i see naked folks and funtime in my pants doesn't happen, i say good job. but the lines between provocative nakedness, and porn have and always will be blurred by the andy warhols wannabes of the world. The problem is that people want to push the envelope. They want shock value art because society is burned out. People need to look at pictures of trees and insect eyes and upside-down-raindrop universes and remember that those pictures are images that should be provocative. I mean come on...it's a fucking upside down raindrop universe!!

I really want them to change it! I wrote them an inquiry and brought up how I NEED artistic nudes in order for me to practice and improve with drawing people, and I hope it will be resolved-- and I wrote WAY more intelligently than I think most 18 year olds could do! Hopefully they'll read it and realize I'm capable of thorough thought and good judgement.

Because personally, I understand them doing that for non-account holders and visitors to the site, but, I mean, seriously!; The people who've signed up to be a part of this community obviously understand that they're going to encounter nude pictures, myself included. Nudity is, and always will be, a part of art.

I've always felt that drawing a strong line at 18 was a little infantile anyway. I was more mature about nudity at 16 than some people at 26. It was probably a legal thing, they just don't want to have to deal with the police coming to call.

Americans are so paranoid about their bodies, in so many ways! ><

WTH, you TOTALLY get back to comments! Don't say you don't!!

yay -10 IQ

and I agree... I get so tired of looking at all those nude pictures that are more like p0rn. I mean some are really artistic...but many are just plain borderline porn.

in fact, I get so tired of all the women bodies I go "yay" when I see a male nude piece, just 'cause.

It's stupid that now you don't even have the option of clicking of mature content.
People in commpromising positions is pretty annoying to look at but if you click on mature content you pretty much know what your getting. And it's reeally stupid when it's just simply a portrayal of anatomy.
I mean, I'm a girl. I've hit puberty. I KNOW what boobs and vagina looks like.
As a society we should be more comfortable with our bodies.
