rambling

Thu Sep 13, 2007, 9:41 PM
Lately it's been bothering me more than usual that my DA gallery is a poor unorganized representation of what I do, especially as of late, but I don't really know what to do about it.  I thought about deleting a ton of stuff and uploading newer things, but at the same time, I don't want to bother with DA much anymore because I'm rarely on it. I feel bad messing with my gallery and everything when I lack the time to check everyone elses.

OH what to do. I've been itching to make a website/portfolio for a while, just so I could have SOME sort of reference to offer when an opportunity randomly pops up or someone asks, but but but websites cost money and I am HTML/CSS STUPID and NO TIME NO TIME! But it would be so much better than a DA account that doesn't even reflect me very well (not saying id leave da, though; i like the artists and friends on here) And... yeah. DILEMMA

I have some ideas I want to do art wise but I have no time or motivation. I haven't drawn anything this entire semester yet. I feel like I'm missing out on practice and experience, especially since art is pratically nonexistant at my school. Trying to keep the possibility open of DOING something in art one day is becoming harder and harder; I think maybe I'll just... do it ONLY as a hobby instead.

GGRR NOO TIIME. There needs to be more time in the world.

ramble ramble. I figured I'd ramble here for once instead of LJ. To torture you all. SRY. THIS WAS POINTLESS. GO CHECK OUT THE PPLZ I PIMPED.

[link] offers free website space with only a line of ad on the bottom of the page in writing. (It really looks nice) And it also has nice, short, webaddresses that you can take! Just as an option you can consider.
AAH, I hope life goes well for you too

Well I'm glad you don't want to leave dA for good at least. :3 Personally, I think a dA gallery can be as professional or nonprofessional as you'd like. If you think you want to reorganize it, then go for it. And don't worry about not browsing other galleries, it's not an obligation by any means.

I know that art careers are difficult, but if it's really what you want to do, I recommend you stick with it. ^^ It's far better than having a job that you are miserable at.

I think the comment function and set up as the page isnt very prfoessional at all, although I agree it CAN be. But that requires me being very distant and disabling comments and everything, and I dont want to push people away like that.

thank you for your encouragement <3 I know its tough, but it'll be even tougher since its not my primary career focus. Im so nervous!

if you want an alternative that gives way more comtrol over your portfolio, try shadowness.com, you choose what order your art appears and you can have subsections etc. I don't know why deviantart doesnt have that facility.

thanks, ill check it out!
I think DA focuses more on being a community than a portfolio site, which I like better. Being too professional might scare away people from wanting to comment or interact.
btw, your icon make me feel naustalgic. <3
