Eurovision nightGot myself some ice cream and will be making myself compfy on the sofa so I'm ready for the big, glittery, horrible music, camp, pointless politics, drama that is eurovision. It never disappoints me.

Sadly I will be alone for this one. Matt had to do a concert he didn't want to do, so I will be live tweeting (humonlazydiva) my impression of the whole shebang.

The Echo chamber dilemmaThe promise of the Internet was that unlimited information and experiences would draw us together. But instead it seems to have driven us apart.
For years I've observed this behavior but haven't been able to vocalize it correctly. Originally I called the behavior of collective opinions as "the hive mentality" of the Internet. But that wasn't exactly right and I often got called out on it. The most prominent example was when I made a comic about a guy disagreeing with opinions and being shouted at till he remained quiet, eventually fading into the background with everyone else. The consensus of that comic was that if you disagree with someone you aren't bullied into not speaking, but instead are free to go someplace else where people who do agree with you exist. And you know what? That wasn't what i was trying to convey, but is sadly true. The Internet is not a hive mind. It's many tiny pocket echo chambers of mutual agreements.

AHH! Cons are sneaking up!!
Acen is in a week; who else is going? Come say hi to me in the artist alley if you go! I'll be there, as usual, with ~licchan and our nasty green palm tree table cloth. I almost caved and bought a new one that had little blue fishes on it today, but I didn't. I'm nervous and excited all at the same time!

Also, if I break even at ACen (oh god I'm so nervous), I'm going to head off to Otakon and table with ~MoonYen! I really hope I can go; I've never been to any other cons than ACen, so it would be fun and new and exciting and I've never flown on a plane to another state before. Hopefully I can do it!

I'm done with school so hopefully I'll be arting more in the summer. To try and get back into the groove and just because you all rock, I'm going to do free sketch requests to the first five people who comment with what they want!

HAha its ok!

Ive been out of state before, but never flown -- only drove to neighboring states. I've been out of the country before too, and that's the only time I've been on a plane. I DONT UNDERSTAND SHORT PLANE RIDES.

I wish I could travel! I don't think I'll get the chance any time soon, but maybe in the future my career path will allow me to. Except I don't want places to gaze at me. I'll be a subtle visitor.
